Three Common issues that restrict freelancers from finding clients (+ how to fix them).

So, you’re a freelance designer and trying hard to get clients, but nothing’s happening.

You think you’re doing everything right, but the clients just aren’t showing up.

This article will give you real solutions to fix that.

But first, let’s look at why you’re not getting clients.

Why You’re Not Getting Clients

You Stop Marketing Yourself After Getting a Few Clients

It’s a mistake to think that once you get a few clients, the work will keep coming in. Clients can leave at any time.

Always keep marketing, even if you’re busy. Instead of stopping when you have work, try to get more clients, outsource tasks, or raise your rates.

This way, you won’t be stuck looking for clients when you really need them.

You Don’t Have a Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

You’re being too generic. Just setting up your social media and website isn’t enough.

Think about it from the client’s view. They visit your page and think, "This designer looks just like the others."

You need to show them why you’re different from other designers. A good USP makes clients choose you.

You Don’t Build Trust

Potential clients don’t know you. They won’t just trust you because you say you’re good. You need to show them proof.

The best way to build trust is through client testimonials. If you don’t have any yet, do small projects for friends or family in exchange for a testimonial. You can even offer to do a couple of free projects.

Testimonials prove that you can deliver results, which helps you land more clients.

How to Fix These Problems

Pick and Stick to a Client-Finding Method

You need to market yourself constantly, even when you’re busy.

There are many ways to find clients: Facebook outreach, LinkedIn outreach, video proposals, Twitter, cold calling, cold emailing, paid ads, SEO, and even asking friends and family for referrals.

Try a few methods and figure out what works best for you. Stick to those methods and build a system to save time.

Create a Unique Selling Proposition

To stand out, you need to solve your clients’ specific problems.

Most of your clients probably struggle to get more customers or sell their products online.

Show them how your design skills can help them solve this issue.

Create a clear message that tells clients what you offer and why they need you.

For example: "I help small businesses grow by creating websites that bring in more customers."

Build Trust

Clients won’t hire you unless they trust you. Show proof of your work with testimonials.

If you’re reaching out to clients via email or social media, mention past successes.

If you’re on a call, talk about how previous clients benefited from your services.

The more proof you provide, the easier it is to gain their trust.

Keep Going

There are other ways to get clients, but the key is to stay consistent.

Keep marketing yourself, create a strong USP, and always build trust with potential clients.

Stick to this plan, and the clients will come.
